With as much talent as the Columbus City League has, it was hard for me to put together a list of the Top 10 players. This is what my list looks like. Let me know what yours would look like too.

What City League teams will be in the post-season this year?

Who do you think will be in the post-season for the City this year? I think it will look a lot like last year with the top 5 teams going to the playoffs. Brookhaven, Beechcroft, Independence, Eastmoor, and Marion-Franklin. This year I think Independence will make a lot more noise. Eastmoor looks good, but I don’t think they are anywhere near as talented as last year’s squad. I think Marion-Franklin will hold their own this year. If Marion-Franklin can cut turnovers out of the equation, I believe they are one of the toughest teams in the area. B-Have always reloads. I haven’t got to see them play yet this year, but they are always talented. I think Beechcroft will sneak in there also. Even though they had a bad showing against a not-so-tough Upper Arlington team, I know they are loaded with talent. What are your thoughts?

Can Hilliard Bradley’s Seniorless team win again on the road?

This is outstanding to me that a team without a single Senior has opened it’s season at 2-0. I think we will se what they are made of Friday night when they travel to Thomas Worthington to take on an improved Cardinals squad. I don’t think they will do so well once they start playing the big games like Hilliard Darby, Big Walnut, Delaware Hayes, and Olentangy Orange. I think that Senior leadership is key, especially in big games like these. On the other hand, if these guys can finish at .500 or better, look out next season. What are your thoughts?

Picture Beginning to Clear After Week 2

After last night’s games, there were a few surprises and let downs. How about Canal Winchester? That is a really good football team. I had the chance to watch them play last night at Jonathan Alder and was blown away by the speed and strength of their athletes. They will definitely be in the post season if they continue to play with the same passion and desire that they have shown in the last two weeks. The Beechcroft vs. Upper Arlington game was a bit of a disappointment to me as I think that Beechcroft is loaded with talent. How about Groveport-Madison? For them to hold a very talented Marysville offense scoreless in the first half, says a lot about their defense. Once again, LeVeon Bell has lived up to the hype scoring 4 total touchdowns this week. What was the biggest surprise to you this week?

Biggest Week 2 Match-ups

Which of these games do you think is the biggest match-up of week 2 and why?

1. Marysville @ Groveport-Madison

2. Cleveland Glenville @ Reynoldsburg

3. Hilliard Davidson @ Brookhaven

4. Canal Winchester @ Jonathan Alder

5. Bishop Watterson @ Westerville South

6. Marion-Franklin @ Westerville North

For me I am going to say Hilliard Davidson @ Brookhaven. After such a close game last season, the anticipation for this one is high for both teams. It should be a really physical game. With two of the Top Backs in the state playing in this game, Demetrius Johnson and Rico Butler, it should make for an entertaining night. I’m giving Brookhaven the edge because they are playing Davidson at home this year. Last year I believe a couple of bad calls may have set the Bearcats back. Should be interesting. What are your thoughts?

Ohio High School Football vs. USA

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to view my blog, and welcome. I just wanted to spend some time talking a little bit about Ohio High School football and how it compares to other states as far as talent goes. From a recruiting aspect you always hear about Florida, Texas, California etc. How does Ohio High School football stack up? In my opinion, I would have to say that Ohio almost has to be in a recruiters top 5 states for potential prospects. I mean, look at the talent that has came out of Ohio that is currently playing Division 1 football, and also playing on Sundays in the NFL. Not saying other states don’t have their share of products, but doesn’t Ohio stick out in your mind? Take the Kirk Herbstreit Classic for example. Pickerington Central rolled over #19 nationally ranked Orange Lutheran 28-14. On the other hand, Upper Arlington got pummelled by St. Thomas Aquinas. Let me hear your thoughts about this.
